“Sing Me a Song” was a Bizarre, yet fun episode of The Walking Dead. Carl is certainly a contentious character for fans of the show. He was pretty much an afterthought before season 4 and the famous “pudding episode.” That episode fleshed his character out and made him more than a reason for Rick to keep fighting. I was hoping we’d get some more of that in this episode, and we did, but what it really did was serve to shine a light on Negan and the Saviors in a way it hadn’t been before.
In a show filled to the brim with characters that are either good guys or bad guys, it was interesting to see more levels to Negan. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a very bad guy, but at least he’s got some likable qualities.
For the first time in a long time, I really have no idea where The Walking Dead is going. That’s refreshing. Were there some stumbles in this episode like Carl’s stupid “plan” to bust in to a compound full of men guns-a-blazing? Hell yes. But at least I cared about what Negan was or wasn’t going to do with him.
